Making a record is an act of faith. At Hero Music Recording, trust is the starting point.

Producer and engineer Raphaella Hero brings a composer's ear and a violinist's attention to detail, leading with love for the work and holding space for the truest version of your artistry to come forward. With experience working across folk, jazz, and roots music, she approaches every project as a co-creator — listening for what a record is trying to become.

The studio is housed at the Art Farm in Sebastopol, California: a family compound and working property in the heart of Sonoma wine country, surrounded by gardens and open sky. The space is designed for artists who do their best work when they feel at home: a 1925 Steinway grand piano, natural light, comfortable indoor and outdoor creative space, and the kind of quiet that lets you leave the world behind. 

Introductory rates are available for independent and emerging artists. Raphaella is particularly interested in working with artists who are early in their recording journey, and with women and non-binary musicians navigating the studio for the first time.

Hourly Rate (no engineer)    $60/hr (2-hour minimum)

Hourly Rate (with engineer)    $90/hr

Half-Day (4 hrs, with engineer)    $320

Full Day (8 hrs, with engineer)    $600

2+ Day Lockout (with engineer)    $500/day

2+ Day Lockout (no engineer)    $400/day

Pre/Post Production (editing, mixing)   $50/hr

⚠️ Piano Use & Tuning:

Our 1920s Steinway is tuned and maintained regularly. If your project requires tuning outside our routine schedule (within 14 days), we’re happy to arrange it. Artists cover the cost of additional tuning ($200), unless tuning is overdue.
